Self loading, single shot so that the sight picture isn't disturbed when shooting. It's a fundamental principle of marksmanship.
The public wont see it that way at all, they largely don't in America, they sadly wont here.
+1. Campaigning for the return of "assault rifles" (and let's face it, my comrades-in-arms are going to latch onto that) is a total non-starter. We live in a country where one of its provinces is slapping itself on the back for introducing licenses for "air weapons" [sic], despite everyone opposing it and warning of the huge costs and no public safety gain.
Pistols is fine, but we need to keep pushing hard. 500,000 certificate holders should translate to a lot more than 15k signatures. What's gone wrong?

As it stands many still don't know, I have visited a club in Kent where the first news they had of it was last week when a member had brought down an article from the shooting times on the petition and as it happens I was there that night to answer questions on it.
Firearms UK are doing the best it can, it's an organisation that has only just celebrated it's first year anniversary.

Lack of evidence that ANY signature campaign of this nature will have ANY real effect on Government Policy/public attitudes/media bias; it
may have been the case in a small no. of isolated cases, but as soon as evil firearms are brought into the equation, then logic and cold hard facts take a back seat to prejudice, rumour & conjecture.

Unfortunately the organisations best doesn't seem good enough. 1 or 50 years is immaterial, if they're unable to demonstrate enough commitment. I honestly feel I could have achieved more in a week.

Thanks. If I was running this campaign I would have plastered every UK shooting forum on the net and asked members to spread them to their local gun shops. I would follow that up with a call to each. Not everyone is a member of a national shooting organisation or is aware of their website, but every single one of them needs shooting supplies.

I'd do it, but I'd want control and no one would give me that.

This petition has been plastered over nearly every UK shooting forum on the net. You could start your own petition then you would have control and you could expect at least as many signatures as this one's already got.

That's the first time I've seen that flyer, it should be in every gun club and gun shop in the country. I could, but that would detract from the current campaign and there's no merit in that.
