YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG BUT YOUR SUPPLIERS ARE BEHAVING APPALINGLY

The only thing he did wrong was admitting he used hand loads. SGC are no different from all the other gun makers, they will all say in their users manual that the use of hand loads will invalidate the warranty. I believe it's an ass covering thing to avoid law suites against them.

SGC are now saying that even with me being able to prove it was a factory round the fact I used home loaded ammunition at some point in time means there is no warranty (except for anything on the rifle which does not come into contact with ammunition), I did however email SGC before purchasing the rifle and specifically said that I would be mainly using home loaded ammunition and asked which barrel spec would be best suited to a load of 4.2gr of TiteGroup and 115gr plated bullets, no mention of any warranty issues were made in their reply, only the spec for the barrel and to go ahead and place the order.

does not recommend does not say DON'T USE IT!

So on that basis would their statement be an "unfair contract term" as they do not specifically say DO NOT USE IT, they just "don't recommend it" but no reason as to WHY?.

A thin straw to grasp but ultimately you either give up or raise a small claim for the money (under £750?? and cite the pair of them.. You ARE leaving it to long to make afinal decision....you could actually be deemed to be accepting their stance and maybe the goods themselves.

The cost of the rifle is £1432, I only had possession of it for a couple of months and it has been sitting at Shooting Supplies since being returned over 6 months ago, I was offered an independent inspection but they then forwarded it to SGC.

As for all manufacturers, when my Henry broke a second firing pin I had a discussion with Henry in the US, they thought it may be due to S&B ammunition hard primers, when I told them I never use .44 factory ammo and reloaded they simply asked what brand of primers I was using and had no problem at all with me using CCI and Magtech, in fact they were happy as they thought they were a good choice, no problems about warranty at all.

FACTS!!

SYSS ARE POSSIBLY one of the best three gun shops in the UK

IF you care to actually re-read this thread, you'll also be amazed to discover that SYSS are NOT involved in any shape or form!
So why denigrate an innocent 3rd party?

SHOOTING SUPPLIES was the retailer, yes; but NOT the South Yorks firm of that name!
There are several UK companies called SHOOTING SUPPLIES - so why jump to conclusions as to which one is at fault, at a risk of damaging an innocent mans hard earned & well deserved reputation ?

Just to clarify the supplier is Roger Bill - Shooting Supplies Ltd in Bromsgrove.

Chuck, I understand what you are saying but it does go on to say "THE USE OF HAND-LOADED AMMUNITION WILL EXPRESSLY INVALIDATE THE WARRANTY."

Like I said mate it's an ass covering thing in case of serious injury if something goes wrong while using hand loads.

Yeah but I'll bet if that Henry had blown up in your face their attitude would have been way different. Hey go take a look in a firearms user manual, I'm not saying they all state it but I'll give odds that most firearms makers say something about hand loads and how it will or could invalidate the warranty. I've just looked at three I had to hand and they all say the same thing, using hand loads will invalidate the warranty.
