Exactly - the award for the most ridiculous dick waver and pontificator on this topic goes to Ordnance
Back it up , unlike some others show what I posted claiming anything regards the SA/80 regarding experience etc. Do you think its an unreasonable question to ask the person claiming its so good what they find so good about the rifle. seems a reasonable question to me. PS You know what they say it takes one to know one, your post proves that.
I have no understanding or experience of this subject, please forgive me and ignore anything that I've posted.
OK avoiding the question there is a surprise, why didn't you admit that at the start, better late than never explains a lot of your posts at least at last you are being honest.

Ok time to put this to bed, the M4 is far superior to the L85 A2 because it looks so much cooler, pew, pew.

Reliability - I've had stoppages with the A1, mostly magazine related because the radway green aluminium magazines were tonk, and a poor substitute for the colt mags the rifle was designed for.
I also had the bolt handle stoppage where the case bounced back into the ejection port.
The A2 - things got better, but I must have been issued a rifle with the mightiest return spring known to the REME because it was prone to short stroking.
I've had a rifle fail to chamber a round and had the 'dead man's click' fortunately on the ranges - unfortunately during a competition.
Things are constantly improving, I realise that the immediate action drill includes a lot of magazine related drills during the weapon handling tests. Issuing EMAGs will be a help I expect.
Someone told me last year what the pamphlet dictated people should clean the A2 at, I can't remember the exact number - but it was over a thousand rounds.
When the A2 was trialled there were tests conducted in Saudi that were written up in a military doctrine journal, and even with burying the rifle in sand, the instances of stoppages were very, very low.
Things are getting better all the time. But do remember - real men go belt fed!

Hey, did Seal Team 6 use the L85A2, I rest my case.

Belt fed now you are talking!
On a related matter, this is what I was talking about yesterday DW58. The new machine gun selected by the Danish Army as their GPMG the US Ordnance M60E6:
http://www.usord.com/weapons/m60e6
This video by Larry Vickers with US Ordnance shows the changes made:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIIicHWwFQo
What it does show that guns with a reputation for general badness can be reworked into something better, which rather parallels with the SA80 experience.
Oh and for those inclined the Slo-Mo video is cool! A bit of machine gun porn...
