As i said earlier I have a hunch there will be a fair few troops who will wistfully talk about their L85 once it is retired in much the same vein as various old sorts have called for the SLR to come back over the years.
That's Nostalgia filter, like how my dad is convinced that Corgis are normally bigger dogs. I said Dad you were smaller.

You're not missing anything, putting it kindly - they're agricultural. The L85A2 is a much more refined and pleasant to use rifle.

For the record, I'd trust my life to the L85A2 over anything else.
Why. ? Have you shot and evaluated all other military rifles.
I've shot all of the last Century's and this Century's British Service Rifles and the best by far is the L85A2, but that is only my opinion
So its better than a lee Enfield rifle that's useful. That statement just shows your lack of insight , how can you compare The SA/80 with the SLR for example different calibre semi auto only British version. The Lee Enfield again different calibre and bolt action. Are you saying the 5.56 mm is more effective than the 7.62 mm or .303.
Jesus H Christ, what a ridiculous dick waving contest this has become - with one or two exceptions, a gathering of learnt from the internet.

For crying out loud, give it a rest, it's getting very tedious
If that's the case, I have an idea don't read the thread. 8-)
Very true.
How do you know he is not talking about you .

.223 AK variants are pleasant to shoot, try a Galil or a Valmet.
