I havent read all of this thread so excuse if this isn't relevant to the way the discussion is going at the moment, but it seems with Mike Yardley that he supports the freedom to shoot, in most ways, BUT he likes the controversy he gets from hating on SR/ 'military-style' Rifles and disciplines.
It seems every post he makes on FB is accompanied by him preaching about how he supports freedom of speech.
It's almost like he's thought:
"Hmm, What looks good: Ah yes, a Toff who supports freedom of speech.....Hmm, how do I prove it...Ah Yes, I will insult a reasonably vocal minority."

He's right, It IS silly to pretend to be Special Forces.
But shooting Service Rifle, or using an AR15 or even wearing Camo clothing does NOT mean that someone is pretending to be Military/Special Forces. Such 'walts' are out there, but I dont think they are usually found in the AR15/ Black Rifle/ service rifle fraternity which he hates on.

They're more likely found in his scene (think wannabe big white hunter) and his rantings have done him that well it's reduced his income thinking on. Also some of the people who get service rifle going on are ex-service men and what's wrong with them taking some people under their wing and showing them some techniques that might be better, I mean how many people got the eye patch technique from Army Cadets?

If the gobshite knew anything of firearms design he'd know that the AR15 is NOT a military design.
It was the product of a private company and was marketed at military customers

Very true and the first one's in American hands were likely the two given to John F Kennedy.

I thought it was the SAS in 1962? When did this happen?

I believe it is a bit vague as the British Army did buy a batch for trials shortly after the rifle was first developed, I wouldn't of been surprised if that was partially due to the UK having a look at Dutch AR10 at some point. Some of those trials AR15 might of found their way into the hands of Special Forces. Certainly the rifle was adopted for use before any branch of the US military for use in Borneo.

Forgotten weapons have recently put an interesting video about the Dutch AR10:

As for outreach there is a big gaming show in September, UK NRA and BASC should have a stand there imho. It would be a great chance for outreach!

Good idea. Is Anyone going to talk to BASC or the NRA to do that? Also weren't some of those AR10's sold in the UK with the full auto disabled pre 1988? I'm all for the outreach but fear I'm not the best person to say, go do the outreach.

Really don't think the computer/xbox/PS4 gaming outreach is that good an idea, what about County Fairs and Game Shows for shooters?
