Re: Dress impressions
When I started this thread I did say folks were entitled to their opinion of the subject of wearing camo. When there is a danger though of those opinions becoming policy because of some kind of old boy network, you then are on the slippery road to the anal retentive tw@ts ruling the roost.
If the twats don't like it then let them go find a club that doesn't allow camo, I don't see why it should inconvenience others, they aren't the folks with the problem.

Re: Dress impressions
You may be disappointed, as Mick says it was one of the CSR lads that did that.Quarters wrote: From now until the day I die whenever I see a CSR type at Bisley dressed in camouflage I'll think of this and laugh.
We however still have one hell of a laugh every time we shoot (at each other mostly).
One small point. The wearing of certain types of smock is perfectly acceptable and within the rules. It is purely down to comments by "Other disciplines" that the CSR lot have looked at the image issue "other disciplines" seem to have.
Personally I am not into cammo head to toe, but that is my opinion and not something I would push unless I felt they were impersonating.
These issues it seems don't seem confined purely to "Perceived image" or are purely aimed at CSR shooting, but anything the leather clad mushrooms don't seem to agree with.
And you know what they say about mushrooms.

Bollox
I honestly don't know anyone who has a downer on CSR at all - it seems to be a perception that has been created out of nowhere.
I know a few people who don't like head to toe camo and I know a few people who don't like Walts but I don't know ANYBODY who has ANYTHING against CSR.
Sometimes I think these things are made up to drive wedges between the disciplines

Re: Dress impressions
Same here. First it was F Class, now it’s CSR! Maybe it’s the belittling and ridiculing of other disciplines that brings this on. There’s certainly one common factor in it.karen wrote:Bollox![]()

Re: Dress impressions
I think it's because individuals make comments, then the 'offended' blame the whole discipline of the individual, then both sides go weirdly tribal and it becomes an issue...karen wrote:Sometimes I think these things are made up to drive wedges between the disciplines
...I'm with you and Rox, in that I shoot several different disciplines at Bisley and have never noticed any 'anti attitude' to any other discipline...
...I have witnessed the odd individual talking crap, but also some funny banter between people in different disciplines...personally I ignore the former and enjoy the latter.
Re: Dress impressions
The way I see it is what people decide to wear when shooting has sod all to do with anyone else regardless of what discipline they shoot. The discipline thing shouldn't even enter into the equation, it's shooting for FFS and not a fashion show. If you don't like what someone else is wearing then tough, hey they might not like what you wear, but do you give a toss?

The caveat is the public impression argument which I guess is simply down to your view on your right to wear what you want or your role (if any) at representing the sport to the outside World. There is no right answer, simply personal view. I imagine it will come down to clubs themselves in that they will decide and impose whatever view that they consider is right and the members either abide or find another club. Market forces at work I guess.
Re: Dress impressions
I've noticed that, two guys taking the mickey out of each other is suddenly misconstrued into F class hates CSR argument. I just ignore it all now, especially on forums as people do have a habit of running off at the mouth on them without thinking.Dougan wrote:I think it's because individuals make comments, then the 'offended' blame the whole discipline of the individual, then both sides go weirdly tribal and it becomes an issue...karen wrote:Sometimes I think these things are made up to drive wedges between the disciplines
