270 Brass - Would Norma be OK? Unfortunately as far as I know Lapua are still not producing it (Unless you want to neck down 30-06 that is!)

This is the 3P comparator on a vernier ready to go, the tube section on end in the middle is used to align the upper and lower contact tools and the second round part below the tube is an add on which allows you to measure the ogive to bullet base for batching, it can also be used to measure the length of cartridge cases hence the machined recess for the cartridge neck.

This is the 2P comparator, same concept as the 3P however it uses a different system to align the upper and lower contact tools.

All of our comparators have a thumb screw on one side and grub screw on the other. The grub screw is usually backed off however it can be used to straighten the comparators if the jaws of the vernier are slightly bowed which is something I have seen on some of the lower end verniers. The slot for the vernier jaws to align in is slightly offset to ensure the upper and lower are always perfectly aligned and the parts from one comparator to another are not interchangeable as they are machined in one piece for accuracy.

Typically expect to be able to measure the OAL of a loaded round repeatably to .0005" instead of the +/- .003" seen on other systems. Gary Costello amongst others swears by the SHED comparators. Tim (ENS) uses them as does Darrel Evans plus many more who's names evade me right now.

They are popular with the American F Class and BR shooters as well however they are a bit odd in that they invariably ask me not to give out their names..
