Does anyone know, off the top of their head, how much a membership for the NRA is?

I'm thinking that instead of blattin' off 25-50 rounds every other month, I perhaps join the NRA, store up the materiel and go for a proper, full-day of shooting at Bisley. Might be worth it in the long run.

What'd ya think?

£ 70.00 (first year reduced to £ 45.00 for new members) - according to this page.

Annual Standard Membership of the NRA is £70. There is a New Member Promotion of £45. PM Heather 762 as she is the membership secretary of the NRA or call her on 01483 787777 ext 155 and she will give you all the info that you need.

That's the sort of thing I do. Due to working abroad I don't get to shoot nearly as much as I used to, so when I do get on the range I like to shoot intensively, cost-effectively, and make maximum use of target time. I generally like to share a target between 2, or sometimes 3 (at most), with the goal of shooting approx. 75 rounds per half-day session, and that works out at roughly £25.00 (between 3) or £35.00 (between 2) in range fees for a target and marker per half-day. Alternatively an hour on the 300m range is just £15.00, so if I'm pressed for time that's just long enough to fit in a quick 60 shot match, which is sufficient that I can still feel that I've done a worthwhile amount of shooting when I get back to work.

Okay, I've decided. I reckons I'll join the NRA in the next year. (I was amazed that the NRA is cheaper then my rifle-club!)

That way I can pool the materiél and HM's currency together, go once every 3 odd moths and instead of blattin' off 25-50 rounds I can have a proper day of it. "Go hardcore" as a friend of mine would say.

Question for the Bisley'ers. When you go, how many rounds, on average, do you get through in a day there?

How many rounds you get through in a day depends on what you are doing. If it is a competition it can be 70 rounds or more. If it is just a morning or afternoon practice session probably no more than 50 rounds. I do'nt just blatt' off rounds it has to be constructive. It also depends on who you shoot with and how many of you there are on a target.

Shooting long range outside of a competition a maximum of 50 over a day and usually less. The Viking will shoot maybe 25-30 over a day, a couple of sighters, a group or two and then move back is her norm.

For competitions I seem to shoot anywhere from 2+15 over three distances so 51 or 2+15 over six so 102 rounds over the day with a possible 2+7, 2+10 or 2+20 thrown in for good measure.

I have shot 300+ 7,62x51 at 600 before however I was getting tired at the end and the rifle was all but starting to smoke.
