Funny coincidence that. Out of 300 ish days, I happened to call on the very day it got signed.

I've been assured that I will have my SGC renewal through before it expires, we will see as that expires in 3 weeks now, I also asked for a coterminous SGC renewal with my FAC application but I can't see that happening.

What annoys me the most is that my feo told me 5-6 week wait but that appears to be total boll#cks

I was told 4 weeks, mine went in early and was still late being issued. Christel has just put hers in some ten weeks early, it will be interesting to see what happens with hers.

Well I'm at 14 weeks now and still nothing, I have sent a couple of queries via email over the last few weeks with no reply and now mine and the wife's SGC's expire in 7 days wtfwtf

Is there anyone I can complain to should I be in the same position this time next week as then we will in theory be in the illegal possession of shotguns due to the inadequacies of the firearms department?

Not just in theory but in practise as well ... You need to get s Section 7 temporary permit for each of you or transfer the guns to another holder before expiry. Call them on Monday morning and demand two be issued - that will go against the department as, I understand, they are measured on the number issued and the reasons. Then contact your sporting body and get them on the case.

Lancashire renewal - two weeks. But then I wasn't changing anything and I've had an FAC for almost thirty years.

A bloke I know got snotty with his dept ref S7 temp permits. Police assured him he was fine and as the temp permits took as long to issue as his SGC then just wait for his full ticket but if it made him happier don't go out of county with his guns.

Supposedly he became even more indignant throwing around all sorts of accusations and threats of what he would do and no matter if it was because of cuts and staff shortages it was the police who were causing him to break the law......

They agreed in he end that he was breaking the law. They told him to have his guns lodged with an RFD by the end of play or he would be arrested....

Push too hard and someone may very well push back.....

8 months and counting for a one-for-one variation....

Ok i called them this morning and spoke to the same person that hasn't had the courtesy to reply to my emails over the last 3 weeks.
I explained i was concerned as our sgc's expire on sunday and i was told that my application and renewals have both been processed and are in the TRAY waiting to be sorted and should be with me this week, i said what do you mean should be as my sgc expires on Sunday and she replied that she couldnt say for definite but it SHOULD be, so i said so what happens if its not sorted by sunday and the reply was it will then be my right to email them to request a temporary permit, so if i dont get it by sunday it sounds like its down to me to inform them of their failings and due to that i own unlicensed guns .
I then questioned about my wifes renewal and low and behold oh yes thats in the post today and i will be fine if i dont get mine through as my wifes will cover both our shotguns, is this correct as mine was entered onto my license and hers on hers??

I will wait with baited breath for the rest of the week to see if postie brings anything or not as i'm away on holiday next week which is a ballache as we wanted to take the guns with us.

If your wife's SGC arrives make sure all guns are on it - if not you can add them. Then hand over your gunsafe key to your wife ... that is all that is needed to ensure you are legal.

Polchraine is spot on for shotguns. S1 firearms are a bit more complicated.
