Idge, I have shot them quite well to 1000 yards with my old .303 however a certain Mr Voake did somewhat cruelly suggest the sparks coming out of the end were the lining of my barrel....

Personally I had no issues with them however I did tend to cringe sometimes. The S&B copper washed bullets have sold probably into the millions and I would have no issues with using them in a .303

Well I took my No5 out for the first time tonight :shakeshout: great fun, only put 30 rnds through it as it started to get dark but once I started to hit my target I was impressed

The recoil wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I can't wait to take it out again on sunday.

The only problem I had to begin with was all the shots were going low, I have the sights set to just under 400 for bang on at 100 yd now. Could it be the foresight blade is to high? I know they come in diff sizes plus I imagine that using modern prvi ammo would be different on the sights compared to old milsurp?

All in I'm very happy, anyone thinking of getting a no5 should do it clapclap

Buzz its good that you are pleased with it, and you are correct in what you say about the foresight blade, you can get full sets of them on eblag.
They are great rifles that have had bad press in their time, I have shot mine out to 600yds with very pleasing consistant results and would also recommend getting one if you have a buckshee .303 slot

it does somewhat put you of putting bullets through a prized rifle when you know they are not as kind to the barrel as they could be , i think i will stick to the privi and smk bullets .

You can test for the copper washed ones with a magnet (a tip from Ovenpaa) - Personally I wouldn't put them (or any other non copper/lead bullet) down any rifle.

I stopped in to see Buzz and family today and it's a lovely rifle, hopefully I'll get to shoot it soon :cheers:

a bit of action from todays "field trials" for Buzz's new toy, he was experimenting shooting with a bayonet attached and once he got his sights sorted he produced a tidy 2.5inch group at 100yards using Privi :goodjob:

Nice vid looks like a fun rifle , so is he staying away from the S&B ?

Just using PPU at the mo as that's what my local shop sells, I will try other loads when I can.

Best group I could get was 2.44" but think that can come down as I'm still getting used to the rifle and firing positions, got a reasonable 20 rnd group on friday in the Prone.

Just need to switch the foresight blade out for a lower one which a mate gave me today then it should be there
