Maybe the should make brakes compulsory, there'd be no complaints then.

I got my own back on a fellow club member who delights in using a 300WSM with muzzle brake on a shared firing point with grass and general detritus flying around everytime he pulls the trigger.

I positioned myself close to him on his up-wind side on quite a windy day and proceeded to blast away with my 45/100, blackpowder, lots of very soft lube and quite a bit of capok filler. He and his rifle and scope were quite quickly plastered in the stuff, he suggested I move to the other end of the firing point, I suggested he moved to the other end of the range.....

There seems to be a few complaints regarding muzzle breaks, I have a tunable muzzle break on my 270 WSM rifle which can be removed or left on. When my wife shoots the 270 she prefers it with break on to reduce the recoil, I have often stood to the side of her, say when taking a photo and I have to say that neither the blast or the noise is that bad, well no worse than someone shooting the same caliber without a break. Here's a wee tip to stop any debris from the blast when shooting from the prone position, before shooting soak the ground just under the muzzle break, that stops the crap from flying.

Sounds to me like you make just as much mess and create as much noise with your 45/100 as the chap with the muzzle break does.
