Porcupine wrote:I agree I'd take a full-size Glock over a full-size steel SIG any day. It seems a no-brainer for LE/military. Two extra rounds in the mag, ten ounces lighter, softer recoil from the flex in the frame, no hammer or need to de-cock, consistent trigger pull every time, and half the price.
Sigs have alloy frames.
And on the others. The Glock actually has a higher felt recoil impulse because of it's polymer frame. The mass of the slide recoiling against a much lighter pivot. No traditional DA trigger mech means no repeat strikes on a stubborn primer with only the pull of a trigger as the striker has to be pre-loaded by a racking of the slide. The Glock has plastic sights!!!
More ammo, consistent trigger pull and cheaper, I'll give you.
But, the ugliest piece of kit on the planet and just like the first Volvo's. Boxey but good.....

Hi all has any one else noticed since Mumbi the UK armed Police units have changed there gear and tactics.
The first time I noticed this was at a siege just befor xmas cant remember were it was an armed officer had a H&K G36 with a twin mag set up. I thought it strange to see an armed cop with a twin mag set up even got a comment of my old man as it was the first time he had seen it also the only other time I have seen police use them is when I've watched tv shows about US SWAT teams IE: Miami Swat on sky one at the moment.
So what do people think about UK armed police being geared and only guesing here but also trained like US Swat teams.?

no need for twin mag set up, there seems to be a trend to accessorise weapons for the sake of it...Cops at Glasgow airport now sporting weapons with vertical grips WHY?? They don't need them, they don't fire full auto and the 9mm / .223 isn't exactly a kicky cartridge.
Assuming they are firing AIMED shots them semi auto is best and if they are still shooting after 30 rounds then their day is going badly.. How many incidents have involved a mag change since all this started..NONE.
Double mag set up is for intimidation/show. It makes the weapon unblanaces and the second mag is exposed to collect any crud floating about.
Then again this is only an opinion for debate

They will be fitted with black "tactical" umbrellas soon, for when the sky falls in.

And tactical underwear for when their arses collapse....
Seriously though, it looks a lot like someone got a hold of a tactical catalogue, had a wet dream and cleaned up with their cheque book.
The overall weight of these weapons must be double of the original....
