Well, that's good to hear.

That said, I'll hark back to my comment in the "NRA ideas" thread. The NRA needs to sort out the PR! The rumour that the finances were in rag order and even that 4 tons of used brass from a big meeting, "disapeared"! These are not just rumours from club houses, but stuff posted on the internet including Wiki!

Now I know you have no control over what is posted on the internet, but likewise, the NRA do have control of what they present. When malarky like this comes up, a "official" response is needed to link to as quick as possible. They say in advertising there's no such thing as bad press, I reckon there is!

I've just had a look at the NRA website. Oh, bang up date info on dates but, timely information and articles are woefully out of date........ take a loss on the 2010 Bisley merchandise, 2 years out of date smacks of unprofessionalism.....

Ah you've just got to love the NRA...no really, you do. Completely unconcerned with the needs and concerns of shooters and shooting sports outwith the Bisley postcode unless its an oppertunity to fleece clubs for doing bugger all. If there's even the slightest chance of buggering things up, they will.

I know from my own experience that the NRA is not perfect but I think some of you just love a good bit of NRA bashing. I don't recognise the picture some of you paint of the NRA. I shoot at Bisley 2 or 3 times a month and the service I get is 'good' not perfect but 'good'. Before you say it it's not just about me living close to Bisley. The comments many of you make give the impression that the NRA can't even run their own range. Well they can and do.

Just found the Bisley 2010 t-shirts. I can't believe any body could be petty enough to think this is an issue.

Petty? You miss the point. My position is one of the lack of positive PR. Karen, Heather and Iain have done a great job of putting to bed some of the things believed about the NRA, by shooters at club level, outside if Surrey.

Considering that the NRA is a "national" organization and Bisley is an international venue, in today's environment the Internet is the place to promote your business and to lay to rest rumor and conjecture. If, in 2012, even the merchandise offered by an organization is two years old, what impression does that give? Are visitors left with the opinion if they can't sort that out, perhaps the accounts were bent, valuable scrap materials were misappropriated and they wouldn't stand a chance at representing me or shooting?!!

So no, not petty, illustrative.

Echoing Scotsgun sentiments, whatever happened to the NRA's involvement with the opening of the redundant ranges (was it the 300 m B Range) at Dechmont, Glasgow.

There was a rumour that it would be opening - I even offered to BUY the range and run it as a commercial venture but no. Seemed the one shot in a bluemoon briagde were to do it, then the NRA appeared a few times, now almost I reckon 8 -10 +years later nothing has happened.

Just wondering..............

The website works very well for me. If you are already a shooter and you can get to Bisley the website is excellent.

Could it be improved? Yes.

I would suggest a big button saying 'New to Shooting?Click here'

For those who can't get to Bisley a clickable map of the UK showing all the full bore ranges and clubs.

The website has many strengths. A few changes could make it better.

As for the t-shirts. The issue is irrelavant.

Self loading ban - support from NRA non existant. Quoted something similar to ' we don't need these type of rifles for target shooting.'

Pistol ban - support from NRA non existant.

Evert target shooting club in the country contributes to the coffers of the NRA whether they like it or not. What exactly does the NRA do for them, where are the courses and support offered for clubs in Scotland, North England etc? How come BASC and the others actively attend club meetings up and down the country, offer firearms awareness events and courses for those interested (including juniors) ...... essentially how come they can be bothered to get off their arse and serve the needs of the many shooters who don't live on their headquarters doorstep?

If it doesn't occur or can't be offered at Bisley, the NRA just isn't interested.

The NRA could be the largest, most powerful shooting organisation. Even the government would take them seriously. All they have to do is get off their arses.
