Mine was from Dyfi Valley Books - they specialise in shooting & archery titles, plus do a few reprints of otherwise hard to get books & pamphlets

1935 single shot trainer restocked in the 60's

further info from another site
The ungrooved receiver, frontsight and it's base and inscriptions tell the story: It is a custom restocked early production DSM 34 "military" trainer barreled action. In one of the photos you can barely make out the inscription in front of the bolt handle: "Deutsches Sportmodell", in part covered by the stock. According to serial number it was made in 1935, see Jon Speed's book "Mauser Smallbores". BTW "459" is the gauge number for .22 barrels, applied for unknown reasons to all .22 barrels by Mauser up to 1945. The rifle was custom restocked probably in the 1960s, see the ugly "white line" spacers then fashionable.
As it is it is a nice .22 rifle, but no collector's item, as it is not factory original, but a conversion of a pretty common model. Here in Germany original DSM 34 sell for about Euro 400.-. A collector may value the barreled action only if he has got an original K 98k type stock.

I have a Mauser M45 .22 number 5911 I have no idea of its value my dilemma is I have just joined a new club the only two .22 rifles I own are this one and another that is equally collectible. My slots are full and I want to acquire a .22 bolt action and a .22 semi auto. So some thing has to go. Unfortunately most of it if not all of my stuff I do not want to let go. A bit of a dilemma. looks like I will be shooting club guns.
I took the M45 to my new club no one new what it was or was remotely interested in shooting it. It did not have enough plastic on it no were to fit a scope and god forbid it did not have a moderator to deaden the sound of the really power full .22 ammo.

Im getting to old for this I despair.

Can I ask why additional slots cannot be granted? Some years ago a friend was told he could not have more than two .22lr on ticket, now after sending a letter assigning each slot to a competition/discipline, he has four.
