Yup Rob thats about what I picked up form it aswell. I watched it last night as my application is in the post so wanted to know if I was to expect any surprises :?

I am sure I read here tonight that someone was experiencing problems with an anti shooting GP.. I cannot find it now (Am I cracking up, should I even post this!) Anyway it certainly was not what I expected, i thought we would see a good few more MP's and some heated moments as the subject is quite emotive, instead they were all very polite and reasoned. Nice to see positive representation as well.

Regarding the restrictions on people who rent Council property or similar it would not surprise me if some Councils attempted to put restrictions on the storage of firearms at some point, if only because they can, such actions are totally discriminative and I sincerely hope that part gets kicked out. Where you live should not have any real impact on your certificate. My FEO told me the history of your neighbours could make a difference as well.

What FAC holders in the UK are worried about is how secure would be the medical record...ie someone accessing ones files for the wrong reasons.

Parliament was talking about either a letter going on a aper file or a tag on our computer record. Obviously in the former, one would need access to the paper file in the health centre but when its on a computer database it can be more easily accessed by the wrong people, remotely.

BTW still haven't worked out why my house insurer continues to maintain a record that I have firearms in my house even though insured now by someone else.

It is quite nice when the forum has got to the stage that I cannot find a post because so many more have been posted since, sure does beat that little forum we all joined just a few weeks ago.

Rob, they are allowedf to hold info for up to six years - unless you can prove that period is excessive...

Likewise, gathering information ("just for the computer") is illegal.

I'll be honest, Chuck, you have argued well on this topic over the years.

It will be abused, if held on computer.

I have a friend who has been stopped twice now, both times on the same stretch of road, because the Police Dispatch operator has misunderstood his FAC details as meaning that he is a criminal who uses firearms - what we call a "firearms marker"

Thankfully he has not had guns pointed at him - yet.

Bird's custodial sentence 20 years ago was suspended.
