“There are many illegally owned guns and there are legally owned guns, I don’t think they should be in the hands of people who are legally owning them”

I think he is referring here to the Plymouth shooter using a pump action shot gun. I think he is indicating that he thinks that these and presumably semi auto shot guns should not be available to be legally owned as they are now and that he would ban them from being in legal ownership.

Peter

Doesn't bode well for the future. A rambling idiot who requires a mental interpreter to decipher the clusterfuck of words drooling out of his gob.
Or the Tories. Not much of a choice, is it?
The UK deserves better.

After the Plymouth incident the local paper published a photo which they claimed was the actual gun used in the shooting, they also published a picture of a police pump action shotgun alongside it for comparison purposes, I may be totally wrong, but the gun they showed that was used in the murders looked more like a semi auto than a pump action - did any shooters in the South West see them and if so what do you think?

As far as I know it was said in the media that he used a Weatherby PA-459 which is a pump action with a pistol grip.

I see that Luke Pollard the Local labour MP for Plymouth put forward a bill in Parliament to ban pump actions shotguns as he couldn't understand why someone would want to have one in their home!
Luckily the bill didn't get anywhere, but it just shows the knee jerk reactions to guns from some MP's

Pump action shotguns are attractive to some pigeon shooters as they are easier to load in the confines of a hide (same as a semi-auto). Sometimes opening a break-action shotgun can be a pain as the barrels can get caught in the netting.
Pete, I daresay there are a lot of people who can't understand why anyone would want a high-powered rifle in their home................ So why have you got one?????

i want one as I compete in cowboy action with a 115 year old 1897 Winchester, the only pump action that is allowed to be used by the rules (apart from a very rare stevens model something). I use the pump as it feels to have less harsh recoil than with sxs's, which I have a couple of, but hate.

I'm not that certain that the Tories are particularly sympathetic towards gun ownership, they've not been receptive to any suggestions about getting pistols back.
