The original question was posed by a forum member asking if such groups were possible with specified rifle and equipment. I don't give a 'flying feck' either but it seemed a reasonable question worthy of an answer.

That was exactly why I posed the question, simply despite what I know and my own experience, is his recipe and equipment capable of the claim...

I haven’t been at 1000 with him as he shoots this at Bisley and he work schedule allows him greater flexibility than my eight year old little girl!!

Also as mentioned, yes, taking my 7mm-08 RPA and rebarrelling it with a Kreiger or Bartlein, in .260 Rem, SAAMI spec chamber 1 in 8” twist, 26” long, fluted, Ceracoated and screw cut with blind cap, and proofed, all in 1100 quid.
Had two quotes from established and respected companies , one from a Southern ‘smith and one from up’t North, both quotes around the same.

I shot a 7,62x51 chambered Accuracy International for many years. It had a 24" barrel and I preferred 170 grain Lockbase with a stout load of N540 behind it built to the magazine and a 16X S&B PM2. I would say 1.0 to 1.5 MOA was good at 1000 yards, sometimes better and sometimes worse. Yes I did have the very occasional 4 or 5 consecutive shots in the V Bull however that was on predictable or still days and certainly was not a regular occurrence.

Rox, if you read this, it is the same rifle I shot alongside you on a rainy Saturday morning at Sticks all those years ago :)

These days the rifle is chambered in 6,5x47 Lapua and is used for Rabbiting however I do have a new 7,62x51 Border barrel I will screw back on one day.
