Re: FB(UK) Shooting club
How about 4 shoots at Bisley as FBUK membership seems to be weighted to the south, 2 at Diggle and 1 or 2 at Blair Athol? I'd certainly do Blair Athol, probably both at Diggle and I'd try to get to Bisley for at least one. (Better if organised around the Phoenix/F-Class or Nationals as I could kill to bulls with one stone!

Re: FB(UK) Shooting club
We could have as many meetings as we want. In an ideal world at least one a month somewhere in the UK.

Re: FB(UK) Shooting club
The more the better and I accept that these will be further south but that makes sense. As long as I can get to 4 or 5 then I'm happy to join.
Info re booking Blair Athol if interested and I am more than happy to assist with this.

West Atholl Rifle Club leases Jubilee Range from Atholl Estates and hires it to other approved users.
Shooting dates are agreed with Atholl Estates in February each year, after which no additions or changes can be made.
Charges are £100 per lane per day for use of electronic targets, £30 plpd without use of the Club's targets.
Requests for bookings should be sent to the chairman, Keith Baxby by 1st November in the preceding year if possible.
The programme for the following year is discussed by the committee in mid-November and ratified by the AGM in early December. It is sometimes possible to accommodate further requests until 1st February, but no later.

Regarding Diggle, Dromia is right about the weekend calendar being full, you have the option however to shoot alongside, the calendar at Diggle was set up only so that it organised what ranges were being used etc rather than twenty shooters turning up to try and shoot different distances etc. However what could happen is for example FB wanted to come and shoot alongside the Military comp at Diggle, it would be no problem whatsoever it would just boost the entries of the comp on that day. Pretty much all the comps can cater for more shooters and if you look at the calendar it has a good selection of shoots. Also what the calendar doesn't really tell you is that often whilst there may be say a McQueens comp on you could actually shoot 600 yards at the same time so if anybody wants to arrange something get in touch with Vince or myself and we shall see if we can work something out.
Re: FB(UK) Shooting club
I don't think it would lead to a bias toward the Bisley shooters, although there may be more events there than at Diggle (or wherever) - because we're all online, it means that we can all see the pics and read the reports on all the shoots.kingburyshot wrote:One of the really interesting things about FB[UK] is that it covers shooting and ranges from all over the UK. If it becomes a shooting club it may tend to be based around the range it uses and lose some of the wider vision.
Rather than becoming a shooting club have you considered affiliation with clubs? For example at Bisley the old Sergents Mess Club seems to have a varied shooting programme and linking with them would allow us access to coffee and meals while they would get turn over from people who live too far away from Bisley to make it worthwhile joining a Bisley club but who might come down now and again to shoot FB[UK] events. Shooters who live in Scotland, Ireland and Wales might be able to suggest clubs which could do the same type of deal.
Also, here's a thought - Does a competition have to be held at one location? ... you could run a few 'simultainious competitions' (team or open, and doesn't even have to be on exactlly the same day) - Can you imagine the 'stick' if 'the Northern chapter' beat the 'southerners', if they had awful conditions, and Bisley was calm....
If the Northern shooters were always getting the worst conditions - then you could even invent a handicap system based on wind and weather conditions. At the end of the day, club competitions are about taking part, so I don't think there would be anything beyond banter over a comp.
I don't know if any club has ever held a competition at different ranges across the UK on the same day (outdoors) - It could be very interesting, and would set FB-UK aside from normal clubs that are only based in one location....

Interesting idea Dougan.....

Re: FB(UK) Shooting club
Great idea Dougan, it is an extension of the postal shoot principle and would be huge fun to shoot, it also means a league could be introduced for different classes which means shooters from all disciplines could compete even if they were the only one shooting that discipline on the day. So as an example you could have seven shooters, covering F Class/TR and Open or sporting disciplines shooting two separate targets to suit at one venue and similar numbers at another and the scores be posted up at the end of the day.
We still need a few more people to say Aye to get this moving.

Re: FB(UK) Shooting club
Also we don't have to stick to our own ranges - I've seen pictures of Diggle in TS, and would like to shoot there.....depending on how things go, I wouldn't rule out a 'road trip' next year...Mike357 wrote:Interesting idea Dougan.....
Re: FB(UK) Shooting club
Hi Ovenpaa; do you know how many people have shown an interest so far? And how many are from the north, middle or south?
Re: FB(UK) Shooting club
A quick count up gives around ten people with a split of 8/2 north to south so we need a few more names yet. This could be done in two ways, either as membership with NRA insurance or membership for NRA members only and there is quite a difference in the costs involved. A third option of having both types of membership is not really an option.
