Would it be cheaper/easier to cast your own slugs? I use a small pot and a gas torch for my casting which is not ideal but works nicely for what I do, Lead is easily come by and a Lee slug mould used to be about twenty quid.

Yep, I cast my own Lee slugs. Mold was about 20 quid and I bought the cheapest Lee melter. Loadall, mold and melter all in around 100 pounds. As I said, I've cast and loaded a couple of thousand slugs now so it's easily paid for itself.....

Mark shouldn't put himself down, I was there and shot like a tango zero, but then, I usually do.

The course disigners, builders and range officers did a brilliant job and as a result it was challenging, sometimes difficult, cold wet, and knackering!

:goodjob:
But it was FUN,FUN,FUN and I'm still grinning.

Congratulations to the winners who didn't shoot like tango zeros, advice to someone who, like me thinks that gun was built for fun - get a S1 shotgun, do the basic course and come and enjoy yourself!

I mean, two days of shooting and farsins of rounds expended :good:

If it wasn't so much fun i would've packed up after the first day! Like a certain pair of brothers did! :D

Were you competitor 19? I don't think we were squaded together, it would be a shame if we were and never knew  If you're going to the 2 gun comp at the end of September at Carlisle i'll be there too if you wanted to say hello :good:

Yup, I was number nineteen!

I was the silly old sod taking a week to reload (must practice)
Hitting the no-shoots (must practice)
Failing to engage (must practice)
Missing (must practice)

Apart from that I did quite well he lied (must practice)

Shan't be at Carlisle at the end of September, there is a big event called 'Bisley Live' (a game fair type of event) and I'm involved now in the set up and running so I shall be working that week end (everybody say aaaaah!)

However, as they are retiring me immediately after it I shall be aroung the circuit as much as I can afford.
