It might not be my thing, but F class is pushing the limits of rifle engineering and reloading - so why not see just how accurate you can get...after all it is the 21st century... 8-)
Wise words Dougan - I never cease to be amazed at the phenominal V bull count some shooters put in at 1000 yards. A five-inch circle at 1000 yards!!! Just have a look at some of the F Class scores.........

But, going back to what Steve said about F Class becoming 'an arms race' and wishing it could be closer to Target Rifle got me thinking...........

One of the GBFCA League's best Open Class shooters is David Kent - and what does David use? A Gemini Target Rifle stock and a Barnard Target Rifle action. It costs no more to put a 7mm barrel on that Barnard than it does a 308. Grant Taylor has had over 2000 rounds out of his 7mm-284 and it's (he's) still shooting very well. And David's not the only one using the Gemini/Barnard combination. So where's the arms race?

If we turn to the F/TR class - look at Russell Simmonds - World, European and GB Champion. His equipment couldn't be more modest - a Major Plaster stock, Barnard S action, home-made bi-pod and a Sightron scope that he won! At the recent Irish Tullamore shoot, the American F/TR Team (World Champions) were shooting Savages - an 'out of the box' factory rifle far cheaper than any Target Rifle !

Try and sort out a back bag - I often use a squashy 'bean-bag' type. You can easily make one from some nylon material and a pound of dried rice.

Vince
I have a back bag just did not realize you used one for F class.

The post code is OL3 5LB

I prefer M1/J29 to Chesterfield and cross over the Peak but I know the area very well.

Looks like you have to follow the lane past saddleworth stables?

I just followed the GPS...

Heading away from Diggle was interesting last time, as the GPS took us down a track that I was not keen to attempt even in the 4x4 :o

Er, satnavs can let you down in this area.

Best to head for Diggle village, look out for SAM ROAD of the main street, cross the railway and go past the Diggle Hotel - you are almost there.

Most find it but there are one or two traffic diversions on at the moment. If you put the postcode OL3 5LB into www.streetmap.co.uk you can print off a map of the area.
