The guy at work is going to make me a tap and make up some of my cases for me.
While I was in his work shop chatting he said let me show you some thing he went in a cuboard and pulled out a jewelers lathe and a box with all the attachments etc.
The lathe bed is about 18" long it would sit on a desk top he said I could borrow it if I wanted.
A nice bit of kit would be ideal for case prep neck turning etc.
Not that I would how to use it any way but it was a nice offer and a very interesting piece of kit.

I have owned a Unimat 3 for a couple of years now, it was my first lathe and until I got it I had a maximum of maybe 45 minutes of metal turning under my belt however I have used wood lathes for a while. The Unimat will hold about 8" between centres at a push and was the lathe I taught myself to metal turn with. The motor was on it's last legs so I replaced it with a 24v DC scooter motor and power supply from eBlag which allows me to run it for 12 hours at a time, plus a new motor is fifteen quid now instead of GBP135+ Such lathes are incredibly accurate and ideal for small shooting related odds and ends. The ML7 I now have is far more robust and capable of coping with heavier work plus screw cutting. I spent a happy couple of hours on it this afternoon making the cups for some QR swivels on one of our rifles.

It is very rewarding to be able to take a piece of metal, turn what you wanted and be happy with the finished result

He has a Myford ML7 as well but his has the long bed on it.
You would love his work shop because we work in a research facility it is kitted out with some very nice kit. Lathes milling machines the works. We also have a glass blower comes in 3 days a week watching him work is class.
Dont know what we are going to do when these guys decide to call it a day. The glass blower is 73 years young.

I was going to take you up on your offer, and have been looking for the best place (cheapest) to get the gauge and comparitor from....however, no one seems to have 'base holders' in .303 British ? would the .308 one be close enough for .311?

I can tap the case for you and make an insert for the bottom item if that helps, just tell me which bullets you use.
