Exploding Hispanic Hammers....Mentalo :!:

I have wondered what would happen if you hit a primer placed on a hard surface with a hammer (? )...but have so far resisted the urge.

I'm having a cleaning session tomorrow for my marlin (first time since I got it), and SMLE - but before I clean them will be 'firing off' all the 'mistakes' I've made in the last 6 months

Have you ever seen the small blanks that come on a plastic strip and you load Hilti guns with? When we were kids we used to nick them from a friends dad then hit them with hammers.They're quite loud... :lol:

I've used the Hilti guns which also fire rivets through RSJ's and they're reallyyyyyyyyy loud. :shock:

I remember using a hammer fired Hilti gun to put trunking up in a barn,"Never use the black ones" I was told, I knew better and used one, it went through the trunking and the barn wall. Oops, did I put them back in the box? Nah, we improvised with a conduit vice, a lump of 20mm conduit, someone to hold it down and then took some inspired shots at the farmers ducks (Probably tame) on a pond in the next field. We failed to hit any ducks, in fact the just kept on paddling around so feck knows where the nails were going.

Looking back on it, we were probably very silly for doing it.

I've never used one, but I've heard of a few people who have come unstuck with Hilti guns...

The one we had at work was the work of the devil and potentially lethal in the hands of stupid 17 year olds....

Many years later at a manufacturing plant the production boys used to pallet up cross members for export to SA, they used a pneumatic stapler and I remember walking along the top of a paint plant next to the packing line and spotting several 1.5" staples on the top but not realising what they meant. One Friday one of them turned the stapler towards his chest and pulled the trigger and stapled himself...

Off to hospital he went where the staff inspected the staple with dismay as they had no way to pull it out, and rang to ask what we did to remove staples, so I asked if we had a special tool, oh yes production replied, it was a manky, rusty bent old screwdriver, anyway the good news is it did the trick and the clown that stapled himself was back at work soon afterwards.....

'looking back on things' can make you go cold sometimes

I've got some 357 with the primers in side ways. That was done on press, I much prefer hand priming

I've never actually tried seating primers with the press - I think there's too much leverage available. I like hand priming aswell...you can feel if they go in too easy, or are stiff etc.

They are brilliant but they do wear out after a while, I still use one for .303's however I use individually modified RCBS's for our other rifles.
