I needed a medical report for a variation (after being diagnosed with cancer ) my gp listed every visit to him and the hospital from birth to 55 a total of about 12 lines and an explanation of the medication i was currently on ,when i asked firearms if this was acceptable they gave me the impresion that as long as the gp didnt say i was a raving nutter and he had signed the form then he was carrying the can from then on .

Yes you do, certainly if they still appear on your license, maybe not if they have been removed (but then they would have been declared on your previous FAC application/grant).

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.

why?

Have you been convicted of any offence (including speeding but not including parking offences or fixed penalty notices)?

my speeding tickets were by way of fixed penalty notice, not by being taken to court. the bit in brackets plainly says not including fixed penalty notices??

Reading your quote from the form above; speeding convictions need to be declared, perhaps it is other fixed penalty convictions that don't need to be declared like parking offences.
On renewal an SP30 fixed penalty (fixed speed camera) from about 4 years previous was not declared and the FEO said he was giving me an official warning about not declaring it. One or two should not be a problem if declared, I was told, but making a habit of being irresponsible with a car can cause questions of your suitability to hold (and be responsible) for firearms.

I have since moved counties and it hasn't been mentioned or declared since with no problems. Not sure if it ever was recorded but my new FEO and licensing manager have never brought it up.

Relevant medical conditions which must be disclosed include, for example:
Acute Stress Reaction or an acute reaction to the stress caused by a trauma
Suicidal thoughts or self harm
Depression or anxiety
Dementia
Mania, bipolar disorder or a psychotic illness
A personality disorder
A neurological condition: for example, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons or Huntingtons
diseases, or epilepsy
Alcohol or drug related abuse"

So things like penis reductions, removal of foreign objects from bodily cavities etc. don't need to be mentioned (phew!) :good:
Thanks for passing that on. However, the wording is quite explicit:

"... or have consulted medical practitioners other than at your GP practice?"

This could mean another GP practice, hospital consultation, surgery etc. It doesn't say they have to relate to the conditions listed above.

For those of you who mentioned private consultations, you have to be referred by your GP so they would know anyway.

My form is going off on Monday so I shall dream up some response over the weekend.

I have previously declared a fixed penalty speeding fine so will probably declare it again (even though it was in 1987 and I can't remember the date, the place or the fine!).

that will be from BASC's guidance to filling out the renewal form

http://basc.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/d ... e-2015.pdf

where they advise;

Question 10 - refers to medical conditions WHICH WOULD AFFECT YOUR SAFE POSSESSION OF FIREARM OR SHOTGUNS – there is no need to declare minor issues which would not make you a danger with a gun. Note 5 make this clear.
If in any doubt ask your Doctor.

which is in itself guidance to guidance, but if they question more about it, you can always point them to it. but chances are, you are worrying about nothing.

Thank you sir. I have stopped worrying about it. Especially as I have a new toy to collect tomorrow. :good:

A fixed penalty notice IS NOT a conviction ! A conviction can ONLY happen in the criminal court ! Eg. You are over 50% of the speed limit and they decided to prosecute you instead. You get a summons to appear at the local JPs where you be 100% found guilty !!

Conviction without due process is illegal under the bill of rights and EU law
