Love to know the reason for the huge jump in the price for these final Faz 55 dated rifles, a couple of years back they were about £1,000, now about £2,000, that's a huge amount of money for a No4, no matter how good it is!!!

I would guess the £2,000 (an outrageous price) would be for an "unfired" except proof example, with original factory markings and mint in every respect complete with matching numbered bayonet, not a re-import from the US with ENGLAND stamped on it.

I would have thought a re-imported example in excellent order would be £850 - £950 if it still gauged as new or near new. Some of these very late 1955 dated rifles do require setting up, because they were never issued (only made to keep R.O.F Fazakerley busy) and went straight to war reserve store. They didn't benefit from REME setting up and adjustment as their predecessors would have prior to unit issue.

I was given my unissued 1949 No 4 mk 2 back in 2005 as a 18th birthday present. It cost only £395 and I have enjoyed every bit of it.

Looks to be in very good order indeed, these late examples are very distinctive with their blonde woodwork.

Is the matching No9 bayonet still with it?

What's the stamped making on the Knox form, can't quite make it out on my phone.

The trick with asking high prices for such guns, especially "unfired" is the ability to prove the claimed provenance.

No bayonet unfortunately.....

Not being sold as unfired.....just unissued...
