My immediate thought:

"What an excellent way to dissuade people that may need help or feel they might have something wrong with them from approaching their doctor.'

For years I've believed that only a fool would go to their GP to discuss possible mental issues because it won't be long before the government are flogging their "anonomized" (yeah, right) records off to insurance companies, employers, and the like to capitalize on their assets, I mean "citizens". Now that the police will have access if you're a firearm owner it makes it even more unlikely people will seek help - they'll just soldier on unsupported.
The law of unintended consequences! Maybe your car, and life insurance company will come back to you if they find you are now enagaged in a "dangerous hobby or pastime" with all this info being flogged off. SO much for Data Protection eh!

the sheeple in the uk will actually think this is a good idea ! esp when for gun ownership

if the NRA and other shooting oragansations patition the government direct, there is small chance of getting this sillyness scrapped !
just like the stupid suprise home vists !

Be afraid, be very afraid about loosing our firearms as we have no one fighting on our behalf.

very true words ! why doesnt the NRA et al actually stand up to these government idiots ? why cant they atleast try be like they US counterparts ? i meant whats the point of them then ?
They run Bisley shooting ground.
the way things are going, we might not even be allowed to own single shot bolt action 7.62mm rifles
anyway if that is the only type of gun that is not banned in the end, good luck to bisley surviving only on F-Class!

You have to fill in the form, example bellow no need to see GP.

Are you being treated for any medical condition, including any alcohol or drug related condition, whether controlled by prescription medicines or not.
Have you attended a medical professional in the last 5 years for treatment of depression or any other kind of mental or nervous disorder?
I give my consent for the police to approach my GP, consultant or other medical authority to obtain factual details of my medical history if necessary.

I haven't posted for a while but still read now and then..
I had cause to ask my Doctor for a copy of my medical records for a medical matter, and whilst mooching through the first 4 pages was able to see a condensed summery of my medical past right back to my late school-days in 1965 when I first developed Osgood Schlatters disease.
It was when I reached page 3 and was scrolling down that I saw a section entitled "Last 3 consultations"

The first was a letter from The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Arthroscopy Dep't

The second 2 were from "Staffordshire & West Midlands police explosives & firearms unit".

They are already doing the dirty deed.

Can someone remind these cretains that unlike driving a bus, gun ownership is a (qualified) right !
And yet more people are killed by bus's then by legal guns

"It's harder to become a bus driver than obtain an FAC"??? I should bloodywell hope it is.

If I was paraplegic, I could still enjoy shooting as a sport...........

What a stupid comment for a public servant to make...........
