WD-40 is not a lubricant or grease. Margarine isn't either, but it will give the same lubricating effect initially....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Are you suggesting that I try WD40 in the baking?

Depends on the recipe books, during rationing there were some interesting flavours developed using margarine, don't knock it.

I have a little bottle of oil I got from a fellow shooter. He buys it a litre at a time and its not cheap. Gave me about 200ml and its lasted years already.

Some sort of recepie which conditions the steel surfaces after repeated applications ?

A dab on a cotton bud and then a light coating on the lugs and lug recesses.

Must find out what its called.

Yea, I used to use a tiny dab of that on the rear of the lugs and the primary extraction where the fun happens with my Dolphin. I generally just use a wipe of oil on the bolt lugs and body now.

There's a difference between keeping things moving nicely and allowing it to move after putting up with god knows how much bolt thrust.

WD40. Great stuff for setting fire to or displacing water but otherwise.

Frog Lube, works well on slippy bolts etc, but its nothing particularly special otherwise.
