Rox, I do similar with the nameofclub@mydomain.com also when asked for my full name on some sites I use David plus the name of the site and a gmail addy so the moment I get a personalised email for that name I know who to blame. Interestingly I seldom see spam through such channels these days.

Interesting - I'm not alone then.

If my regular address is:
rox@mydomain.com

a regexp on my mail server accepts the alias:
rox.<anything>@mydomain.com

so when I sign-up to dodgysite.com I'll use the email address:
rox.dodgysite.com@mydomain.com

No action or configuration is required (until the need arises to block that address).

..

...but someone will no doubt...

As I understand it - if sale price is £100, he will ask if he can paypal the seller £200 and ask the seller to paypal the "pick up agent" the £100.

Buyer then gets a fake e-mail conforming £200 received. Seller paypals the agent the £100 and never hears anything back.

Then discovers that the £200 never reached his account.

Thankfully all of the scams have a certain tone to them, I had something similar trying to buy a bike recently. The bike was about 50% of the market value and they were being pushy...

Hi , Because i`m in Falmouth (TR11 2EW) the entire transaction will be completed trought eBay and PayPal . They will handle everything for both
of us, including transportation and the transfer of the bike papers to your name. You don't have to pay anything extra, the total price that you must
pay for this bike is £2,880.
Here is how the process works:
I will make a private eBay listing for you.
You will have to click "buy it now",fill in the forms and follow the instructions.
PayPal will send you an invoice with all the transaction details and the payment instructions.
You will have to secure the funds to PayPal. After the funds will be secured to PayPal,the delivery will begin and the bike will arrive to you in
max.48 hours.
When the bike will be in your custody, you will have a 7 days inspection period. If everything is alright, the transaction ends and PayPal will
release the money to me. If there is something wrong with the bike, you will be fully refunded and I'll get my bike back too, without any extra
fees. Everything is covered by PayPal & eBay. I will get paid only after you confirm that you received it.
I would need your ebay username so I can send you the link. I'm waiting for your reply.
Thank you.

Basically if I don't know the email sender or the email is a receipt for something I know I haven't bought then it goes on my blocked list. I very seldom get any spam mail these days. If my wife wants to buy something on line she sends me an email with a link and I get it for her.
