My first target rifle was a 7.62 Fultons regulated 1932 Czech Mauser action with a S and L barrel, a Brindles trigger and PH sights..........cracking old rifle.
I needed it off ticket some years ago, and Fultons gave me £50 for it.

Once you have your chamber/bore dimensions, consider Mountain Molds if you need something custom made (within reason).

EDIT: I'm no expert, quite new to casting, so I'd love to know if there is a UK equivalent of MM.

I have a few MM moulds that I bought second hand and they are fine, however I have never got their online mould design function to work. If you have I would be interested in the instructions.

I prefer Accurate or Brooks if I want something special, far easier to deal with in my experience

There should be no need for a custom job for this project, plenty of good off the shelf 30 calibre moulds in sensible diameters around.

Range day to morrow so I get to appraise the donor rifle and shoot it with jacketed .308 bullets. Ill post some pics.
Then Ill be removing the aperture sights so I can dispose of them and anything else that I think is worth flogging to fund the project. Ill be measuring the barrel length diameter etc. and checking that the barrel will hopefully fit in my lathe OK for the machining work.
I'm a bit concerned about the rear aperture sight I know nothing about target rifles and I'm guessing that the receiver will have been drilled and tapped to mount the rear sight I'm not sure how that will work if I want to mount a scope base.

Handled it to day its a Shutz and Larsen barrelled .308 target rifle G98 action fitted with parker hale aperture sight. Its regulated by fultons it shoots great.

1:14 twist?

Not sure about the twist Ill have to check. The rear sight is surplus to requirements and maybe the stock. Ill probably shorten the barrel as well.
(Maybe being the operative word.)
To be honest I was quite shocked having never fired a target rifle before at how accurate it is. I benched it with the but resting on a sand bag its amazingly accurate considering its iron sights. The rear sight is a joy to behold. I'm thinking I should of bought a clunker I am going to have to take deep breaths before pressing the start button on the lathe. Oh and it will fit on my lathe the barrel will go through the head stock so no worries there. I'm going to have to think long and hard about this one.

Is that one of the post was Danish built target rifles? S&L built them and the DK Government officially owned them then (From memory) In the 1980's the owners had the chance to fully own them and at that point they were dispersed to the four winds. I have some notes on them somewhere.

The S&L barrel was also widely used in the earlier days of the likes of the SWING as they worked superbly with the 147 grain issue ammunition of the time. It would be a shame to chop one up for no reason...

To late now I have spent a fortune on it I gave him £60 of my hard earned cash.
Seriously though having seen it in the flesh and fired it I'm in two minds what to do with it now.
