I would tend to agree with you there Dromia. Perhaps someone is paying too much for bought in bullets rather than cast their own.

P.S. I bought some copper plated bullets from Germany once (not H&N), they were absolute rubbish compared to cast bullets. I still have the majority of them on my reloading shelves.

1000 308 TC 165 gn H and n posted from Luxembourg. £94.
Do not require gas check, lube or sizing and are all the same weight
.I cannot buy gas checked, lubed cast at that price.

I can't comment on you buying cast boolits but I can certainly make them for myself at a lot less than £94/1000.

Like Dromia, I am amazed at people who buy bullets. Basically, if it ain't lead, I don't shoot it. I get through about 3000 bullets a year in a variety of calibres, including
balls for muzzle loaders. I have been casting for more than 40 years and have never bought any lead. Fellow club members and friends in the building trade give me scrap from time to time. I do buy some bars of solder every year to provide tin where a slightly harder bullet is called for. During the pistol shooting days, I used a lot of range scrap.
At one time, I had three 38/357 revolvers and estimate that I have fired somewhere between 80 and 100 thousand rounds of 357: I have yet to fire a factory 357 round.
I believe that reloading, including casting, is a major part of our hobby.

We do not cast our own bullets however our shooting disciplines are changing and I reckon we will get through a few thousand cast this year so maybe now is the time to start learning, I have most of what I need for the .357 marlins other than some means of melting the lead so now is probably as good a time as ever.

Aside from the valid cast bullet points made I'd be surprised of any factory FMJ around in .30-30
The rest of the world hasn't got our Section 5 bullets BS laws to put up with....so if you want FACTORY ammo you shop according to your wallet as opposed to what your FAC states.

Plus as SimG said. ...tubul magazine rifles have exemption for soft points & semi jacketed.
