Okay. For argument's sake then; say I'd like to USE my firearms as ornaments
I'm being OTT of course but I think my point stands.

Bottom line, don't act daft when in control of a firearm, most definatly do not film said daft behaviour and post it anywhere.

No - you are perfectly entitled to use them as ornaments. As long as in compliance with your condition of securing them as soon as that use ends.
Of course, you are also required to secure them whilst in use so you would need to be physically in charge of them.

So you can carry one slung across your back all day long in the house, worn as a fashion accessory - and the police would be fine with that? Come on, you know they wouldn't be.

Unlike one Thomas Hamilton.....he was allowed to carry on until he went mental.

Would be the only issue if the police somehow managed to find out you'd being doing it, and you gave that as the reason. There are several good reasons why you may wish to carry/wear a gun in the house for extended periods.
Going on a rough shoot/proper deer stalking and needing to test the comfort/fit/durability of a sling, for example.
I, (and many other 'practical') practice moving around the house with our guns as a drill for tight space movement for courses of fire that require it. IMO its essential to build up your muscle memory for keeping your muzzle in a safe direction (and not muzzle sweeping your own feet!) while moving around obstacles/barriers etc. As long as no one can see in the house and hence can't get 'alarmed' by seeing someone with a gun (

), then its perfectly legal to do so.

Agreed. He certainly should have got a hats-on-no-coffee from his FEO, but the police jumping straight to the nuclear option helps nobody and certainly doesn't encourage public confidence in their ability to provide a proportionate, measured response.

Well, I must admit I am playing Devils Advocate but the Firearms Act has never defined use. Case law has generally accepted use as any lawful activity.
As to what the Police can be fine with ? They can only take action if you commit a crime, breach your conditions or you are of intemperate character ( drink / drugs / other activity likely to affect safety )

I can just picture it
Your lass & her mates on the sofa getting stuck into the wine & snacks watching a chick flick....and you're doing tactical drills up & down the hallway in all your ninja kit!
She must have one hell of a set of excuses memorised already. ...

Got to say I am with the Police on this one - as one other poster said "one less fool with a FAC/SGC".
