Yep, very proud of my eldest - for many things, not just her love of shooting!

You make a very valid point about eye protection - but in my current club I don't think I've ever seen anyone wears shooting glasses, and we shoot full-bore, small-bore, shotguns, black powder, miniature cannons, air pistols.....and anything else you can think of to bring along - we even had a full auto paintball gun once!! I think I should be looking at getting her some glasses, and maybe a pair for myself....

I read they had withdrawn it from use, after too many fatal headshots had ruled it out for less-than-lethal.

Jeff Cooper once theorised on riot control in his excellent 1998 book To Ride, Shoot Straight, And Speak The Truth:
It would seem desirable to devise a system which would make sure, first, that the riot would stop; and second, that only the leaders would feel the weight of social disapproval.

Let us consider such a means - the 22-caliber rimfire rifle. This weapon, properly sighted and equipped with a noise suppressor, may be used with surgical delicacy to neutralize mob leaders without risk to other members of the group, without noise and with scant danger of death to the subject. A low-velocity 22 bullet in the lung will not knock a man down, and in these days of modern antisepsis it will almost never kill him if he can get to a hospital in a reasonable time. It will, however, absolutely terminate his interest in leading a riot.

A favourite IDF tactic during riots is to shoot the ringleaders between the legs with the 10/22.

The Rex Applegate book "Riot Control" is a good read too....even more so due to some of the dated nature of the photos

I have had one for some time, mine is serial 9032 an early one. I borrowed it from my dad when I was a teenager, he never asked for it back.

She looks a bonny lass and well done to her for taking up the sport, wish more women folks would join. Ref the safety specs, I too sometimes shot without them, till a split casing caused some crud to be spouted back at me from my Nagant..lesson leaned... I know it's only a .22 but ......

Anyway, well done to her Dave ....the lassies can certainly show who's boss on the range.
