Rifle Cleaning - C2R Real world review!

I apply the C2R with a nylon brush -I just put a few drops through the aperture in the bore guide and give it a few good passes. I've tried both methods (applied to a patch) and this seems to work better for me.

TG, will be interesting to see what happens when you get the bore scope.

Ideally use it before you clean and then after.

A colleague of mine was impressed but just cant bring himself to put water down the bore....good job he never shot black powder or old corrosive primers then.

Was gonna say, didn't SMLE's come issues with a funnel to pour a kettle full of water down the bore to clean em...?

Believe it may have been for the .303 Martinis but I could be wrong, actually have one, great piece of kit, use it on my Mauser K98 and Mosins when having used surplus ammo.

There was an offset funnel in the armourers kit for the Enfields IIRC

I've used C2R for a few years now and still pleasantly surprised how well it cleans (and lasts - still 3/4 of the bottle left)! I did a friends .308 with it a few weeks back, which he swore was clean. Needless to say it was not.

I too was a little apprehensive about using water in the bore but now have no issues in doing so. However I was of the belief that water was required as a catalyst for the reaction? However I stand to be corrected on this.

I find a nylon brush coated in C2R is the easiest method and ensure complete coverage.

I believe quite the opposite. The water neutralises the reaction.

When you push a patch on a loop (or worse on a jag) a lot of the product is squeezed out before it gets half way down the bore. The brush holds quite a bit of product and does not squeeze it out. A couple of passes I find has the stuff all over the barrel. Worth a try.

I use bore mops for applying C2R.

I think it is great stuff - I use Butchers Bore shine when back from the range to get the fouling out, but if I want to give a deep clean, which I do every so often C2R is great stuff, really like it - great review thanks!

With my fullbore rifles, usually after every outing, but always before the next outing, if you know what i mean! Don't bother cleaning my .22's barrel other than a few passes with a boresnake to get the big bits and moisture out.

Anything other than 22, before it goes back in the cabinet.

22, either what it starts to feel gummy or when I can't look into the breech without feeling a sense of shame and neglect.
