Wonder if the non lethal reason for wildlife ie Foxes would work. Can't see any other reason in the UK as we can't use 'self defence' to own anything.
Seeing as shotgun shells over here are not viewed in the same way as 'rounds' and can be bought and stored by anyone in any hap hazard manor, are they actually restricted?

They work well when deer (out-of-season to kill them...) are eating your kitchen garden.. I know that for sure - remember it well, back in the day..... :)

If they're Section 1 (as SimG stated in the first reply on the topic) then they ARE subject to the same control as 'rounds'

I'd suspect from a layman's reading that they'd fall under S.1 due to the "single projectile" nature of the rounds. Probably means anyone with slug allowance could buy them. As to what you'd use them for I have no idea- hardly ethical to use them as a less lethal solution for foxes.
On a similar note, I'm sure I've seen "rubber" solid slugs sold somewhere as a less-lethal option.

Rather than using encased peas/BB's what about them in a plastic wad with a disc/card over the top
Officer/judge; "Why did you make these cartridges?"
"With the possible up and coming lead ban i've been experimenting with different loads to replace it for target shooting. They happened to be the closest cartridges to me when i was cleaning my shotgun at 2am and the burglar entered the property" :)
