I know, but if I can politely ask... once you've read my post I added before this, can you tell me what happened to Gareth Murfin from what you know. You must know a bit having researched the UK Matebas a bit? Also is it just me or just Pete Moore not change, is he some immortal warlord who throughout time reviews things and then disappears for a bit and then pops up again to do the same thing?A.J.P. wrote:Cotswold Arms were named in the article as the then distributor of the Grifone. Original retail's quoted as £653 - although it doesn't state for which spec.Sixshot6 wrote:I'm wondering now if Cotswolds were the ones that brought that model in?
P.S. I was just pulling your leg about the Thompson.

I can't help with any answers as to Mr Murfin's background unfortunately, my knowledge of UK spec. Mateba's is pretty much limited to what I've managed to glean from the awesome Mateba fansite. There's some really good background on there, video reviews and pdf documents of the manual and the article I linked to earlier.Sixshot6 wrote:A 30 carbine model is mentioned too. Seen any of those about?

I'm pretty sure that the 30 Carbine mentioned in the Shooting Sports article is erroneous. As far as I'm aware, no Mateba was ever produced in that calibre. Oh, and everyone knows Pete Moore is a Time Lord

Re: Mateba - and then there were THREE
Ok, I just had a conversation with someone and the straight pulls (I'm guessing the M1 carbine's he imported?) caused his problems, that and for whatever reason the police went after him (I know of a dealer who the police bankrupted with the vendetta they had against him).A.J.P. wrote:I can't help with any answers as to Mr Murfin's background unfortunately, my knowledge of UK spec. I'll read the resources and in that case when will Pete Moore's next regeneration be and what will he look like when that happens?

Half of the excitement is not knowing...Sixshot6 wrote:when will Pete Moore's next regeneration be and what will he look like when that happens?
Re: Mateba - and then there were THREE
that sounds like Horror and worry to me. I wonder if it will be something like this?A.J.P. wrote:Half of the excitement is not knowing...Sixshot6 wrote:when will Pete Moore's next regeneration be and what will he look like when that happens?

Or is that too optimistic?
He does seem to alternate between beard and no beard, like a gun reviewing hipster before they existed

Having seen Pete Moore's reaction to the SGC 223 lever release and the MARS system, do you dread what his reaction will be if the Lantac system measures up to the hype?

From past regenerations....JabbaTheHut, in three-sizes-too-small-combats?Sixshot6 wrote:...when will Pete Moore's next regeneration be and what will he look like when that happens?
Do I win a prize now for the correct answer?
(Is the prize all the loyalty points on his Greggs card?)
Re: Mateba - and then there were THREE
I remember a joke when he mentioned the SGC lever release 223 working with an open bolt, the comment was that the only open bolt he had to worry about was the one on his fridgesaddler wrote:From past regenerations....JabbaTheHut, in three-sizes-too-small-combats?Sixshot6 wrote:...when will Pete Moore's next regeneration be and what will he look like when that happens?

I don't know what the prize is. Maybe you or Sim G's missus could wrestle him for the points. Although if she wins the points before you, you have to face her to win the points. Maybe a regular coffee from Costa fortune to sweeten the deal?
Maybe this would be his regeneration?

You win the prize for being the meanest Jonsaddler wrote:Do I win a prize now for the correct answer?

Re: Mateba - and then there were THREE
I have no expertise in this area but, Cerkote or Durakoting alot of guns doesn't seem to cause a problem? Plus as daft as this sounds with there being no new Mateba's made let alone imported into the UK, is it really wise to potentially deface such a collectable (I'm not saying don't do it, it just seems an odd course of action)?A.J.P. wrote:You win the prize for being the meanest Jonsaddler wrote:Do I win a prize now for the correct answer?Do you have any thoughts regarding the question I posed earlier about the practicality of having my matte nickel Grifone refinished with either Cerkote or DuraKote? Can you foresee any potential problems?
Re: Mateba - and then there were THREE
Point taken, and certainly something I've thought about. I'd be very happy to consider a swap for a quality blued example in 357! Any takers?Sixshot6 wrote: Plus as daft as this sounds with there being no new Mateba's made let alone imported into the UK, is it really wise to potentially deface such a collectable (I'm not saying don't do it, it just seems an odd course of action)?
