He seems to be happy to buy a mould of that design as he has just said in his last post.

If any one has one of these moulds I will happily purchase it off you for the current price of a new one plus postage of course.

Why not get Tom at Accurate to cut you one?
In your experience how long would it take him to do that and how long before it arrived in the UK.

In the mean time I have collected together some bits and bobs for the project. Normally the professionals would cut a mould using a CNC lathe as I don't own one I will have to do each stage of the process individually. I don't expect my mould to be any thing spectacular in fact it may not even work and end up in the scrap bin. But it keeps me out of mischief and it all adds to the knowledge base. teanews Hmmm

Last mould I had from him was just over three weeks from ordering to receiving.

Why don't you just ask him, he will know best his current turn around time.

A simple brass collet to go in the three jaw chuck to hold a boolit.

Off course another way to do it would be to just alter a existing mould to the right diameter for example open out a .312 mould to .314 or .315 then tumble lube the boolits. That's probably one hours work on the lathe. teanews Hmmm

Lapping out an aluminium mould a couple of thou is a half hour job at best, no need for a lathe or any tools other than a nut, spanner and some toothpaste or cleaning cream or valve lapping compound if you have it.

A nut and a spanner can you elaborate how does that work.

Remove sprue plate.

Prepare mould for castng.

Centre nut over cavity.

Fill cavity up to top of nut with alloy.

Repeat for each cavity.

When solidified remove from cavity recording which bullet and nut is from.

When mould is cooled cover boolit in chosen lapping past, close mould on boolit in appropriate cavity and rotate nut with spanner.

Continue measuring cavity regularly till lapped out to wanted diameter.

Sounds interesting Iv got two moulds that are possible donors one is .312 160grain.
The other is .312 185 grain.
The .312 160grain is possibly the best bet Ill have a go and see if I can open it up ideally to .315.
