I don't keep any logs, although I do keep empty sierra boxes which will go some way to let me know how many I've reloaded, along with receipts and the amount of stock that I haven't yet used.

I don't keep spent primers, they go in the bin, mainly because they're messy and my de-primer on my press tends to shoot them around the room rather than into the bin bag directly below the press...!

I also have records of every round that I've shot at the range, in some way or another, whether it's shot zero targets, or range sheets from the day which always has the number of shots fired on it wth which rifle if they were to be interested in knowing this information. But at no point have I ever had to provide (nor be asked to record) this data, it's purely something for me to do so I know in my own mind how many rounds I've shot.

I do need to keep better records, granted, but at present I have a *fairly* accurate way of knowing how many I've reloaded, and how many I've shot. Although those numbers will be dramatically different as for most competitions I supply the ammunition to a shooting friend whose rifle shoots similar sized groups as mine with my homeloads...!

I assume that you are under West Mids/Staffs collaborated firearms, they had no issue upping my .22 from 1200 to 3000 with just a couple of emails & a letter advising that I have 4 .22lr firearms that all like different ammo.
Well that was until I got my FAC back on Thursday after adding some new slots, when I looked the figure was back to 1200 .22 & I have more than that in the safe :cool2:
Hurried phonecall & they said "Don't know why that happened, send it back & we'll change it"
So another few weeks wait while that get's sorted sign01

I live in Hampshire, but I shoot in Dorset and Surrey, and have travelled and shot in Kent and Lancashire.....will they all have the same parameters?

I don't know.

There's the rub. Personally I'd say they don't have the same parameters. Just seeing whats posted on shooting forums indicates clearly that the 40 odd licensing systems in England and Wales, the one in Scotland and the one in Northern Ireland, then chuck in s5 from the HO...... and is it any wonder stuff goes wrong?!

The recent call questioning why the police should be the only licensing authority does open the question up. Again, for me, it raises something I touted years ago when we had the public consultation on firearms licensing (anyone else remember that?) Why not give fireams licensing to one of the three national police forces that we have in this country? Two of those police forces are "armed" so should understand the technicalities of our sport better, but only one covers all four home nations, the MoD police. Perhaps ACPO need to work on standardisation first...? But, you know SMT's and their empires!
