Hopefully the conditions on my FAC will remain the same as they are now. I.e, I can use any of my firearms for target shooting as long as the range is suitable and there's insurance. None of this special association bo...cks!
Saddler, have you got a link to where you gleaned this info from?
People seem very surprised that I've got a 9+1 12 bore for "target shooting"*. I point out that I've got a 10+1 .308 and a 9+1 .44 Magnum, amongst other things, conditioned for target shooting.
The sooner <everyone> (police, shooting organisations of all types and other shooters included) wakes up and realises that a 12 bore firing slug is just another target shooting firearm the better.
They don't need a million and one special conditions, you don't need to be a member of a certain organisation(s), you don't need to shoot practical shotgun/any other particular discipline to have one and if you want to target shoot with one (and have the range access to do so) you should just be given the authority to possess/use.
Fortunately Gloucestershire seem to share my views on them- granted for target shooting no problem. I'm thoroughly looking forward to expanding my shooting and reloading experience.
*OK, it's black and has a pistol grip. That is probably Very Scary.

Well...according to the Police Scotland email reply...the NATIONAL Firearm Licensing Management System is NOTHING to do with Scottish Policing, so the changes don't apply to Scottish shooters.
I thought the Independance vote decision was still a few weeks away?
Ho hum...

Might well be unlawful. Firearms legislation and the implementation thereof is one of the few areas of law still reserved for Parliament. (Wee Eck and his vile mob begged and begged and begged for airguns to be devolved to them, just so they could ban them. Westminster eventually gave in, as much to shut them up as to see whether the experiment could be copied)

No the licensing of firearms is carried out to westminster legislation but when this system was mooted the scottish forces said they didn't want it,probably just didn't want to chip in for it.

I've just remembered I need to pick up some slug at the local RFDs (reloading setup still isn't sorted out again). Bet this will be fun...

With my current Vz58 debacle i too have found out that Scotland don't use the NFLMS (despite it being the Dunblane shootings that brought it into being

), the NATIONAL firearms licensing management system covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
