Dougan, the rifle has the standard sights plus a rail fitted and I did notice the cheek weld (For me) needs to be firm to get a decent sight picture. Yes it may well be modified however right now it is for me to better familiarise myself with this type of rifles operation and function.

Only down side is it is a far too shiny and pretty right now. I will get a picture posted up in a bit.

nice work, strip clean and inspect/learn the workings, makes it easier to understand if anything does go amiss

if its fully proper slick then the only jobs that I could suggest is 1 piece firing pin and wrap the lever to give better fit on fingers.

trigger happy kit makes huge difference, but not cheap and not sure who got them in stock at the moment.

now the fun begins with finding the load that works for it, unless you been fortunate enough to be given that info from the previous owner

Not sure of the actual date, but the MR indicates a Remington made one so its not very old.

The finger guard certainly could do with some work, it is barely big enough to get my fingers into and the edges although not sharp are 'cleary defined'

I am glad you spotted that Wilson!

The rounds I have seen used are so long they wont feed out the mag or even eject when loaded!

"far too shiny and pretty" - Funnily that was my (only) criticism when I got it...it looked and felt a bit like a toy compared to my Winchester (though it way out-performs it), and it's the only rifle I have that I could say has benefited from a few marks and dings on the woodwork.

The stock is fine for open sights, but to get the right head position with a scope I had to put some plumbing tubing on it.....I know you're always busy; but when/if you get round to it, and you need a 'guinea pig'.....

They're a nice looking gun tongueout

Though you mainly see Marlins used on the practical courses of fire, I did see a couple of these used to good effect in some of the precision courses of fire at the Phoenix.

Picking my new one up today (hopefully!) same scope as well I think, Simmons Philippines WTC 1.5-5x20?

It may be just me but your scope seems quite high?, on my previous Henry it was mounted with low rings and I still had to use a cheek riser to get a proper sight line.
