I've read that Northern Ireland has different handgun laws than the rest of the UK, is that correct?

Certainly does. Apart from those handguns issued to the police, prisons and other civil servants at risk of terrorist attack (NI also has the only routinely armed police force in the UK), the then Northern Ireland Secretary, (read Governor), Mo Molam, decided that there there was no need to extend the ban to civilian target shooters.

Other parts of Great Britain also still have handguns for sport, namely the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, Jersey, Guernsey and Aldernay. The Channel Islands still have semi auto full bore rifles!

Yeah Chuck! I had a Ruger Convertible Blackhawk same as Rufrdr Being a modern gun you could load the 45 Colt rounds to almost 44 Mag level. There are unique loading data for the Blackhawk.

Also! When the US Navy was using our range for practice and we just happened to be around you could just install the 45 ACP cylinder on the Gun and take advantage of all the free 45 ACP Ammo they kindly loaned us....

I hesitated a good hwil before posting this, is it a vintage handgun (one of the portraied beasts, or beauties?), is it old enough?

Finally I decided it might be exotic and rare enough to deserve a mention and its nail in the wall of fame (or shame? ;-)). It's the black one below. The silvery 6-incher you probably all know...



Oh, it's a six-shooter, .38 caliber, quite non-metric revolver :-D.

Don't ask how it shoots, I haven't tried yet.

Now that is interesting ! Are those cylinders rare? How are they adapted to take a rimless case? How are they ejected? We've seen half and even full moon clips for .45 ACP but not special cylinders...
