Thanks for the explaination . So if you are lucky enough to have 11 like 450 Martini, you must chose the one that you will shoot, put it on you FAC & have if locked in the safe at all times and the 10 other ones can' t be shot but be "decorating" you mantel piece ? Is that correct ?

er , yes !

I know it sounds crazy but then I can have a 300 Remington ultra mag rifle but not a browning buckmark 22lr pistol , go figure?

Yes thats how our flawed system works!

There is a story floating round from a reliable source that a reenactor chap wanted a martini, for shooting ball at the range, for shooting blank at events and to hang on the wall. He was advise by his FEO to buy three.

450 Martini decided to go to the flicks in London with his mates...
Odeon cinema it was...

but after arriving at Leicester Square, they clearly did not agree with the outrageously high tickets price and tried to muscle in ...

Eventually Prince Harry, who also wanted to see the film, came over to calm things down...

Sadly i was not at the Premier (although i know quite a few of the blokes in the picture), the reenactment group that did it are quite "select" and you have to be invited to join.

I am the proud owner of a Mk2 1872 Martini Enfield rifle, that was converted to .303 in 1899.

What blew me away was the pristine bore and the fact that it is proofed to 4150 bar at the Birmingham Proof House.

I would also like to share this anecdote, allegedly attributed to Stanley Baker.

When the cast of Zulu arrived in South Africa back in 1964(I think) to film the movie, they were told by an Apartheid Government Official, that anyone convicted of having sex with a "Native" would be flogged.

Allegedly Stanley Baker replied, `would it be possible to have both at the same time`!
