Looks like I had the wrong end of the stick - I had assumed he was talking about old guns that fired known calibers, and didn't realise that anyone can have an S58, and one had been used in the Woolwich incident...
...still though, I can't imagine that many crims are considering obsolete caliber weapons as their main choice, and it's more likely that for a very small number that it's all they could get.
The tone and inference of the article is still ridiculous, as it give the impression that historic weapons are popular with criminals

Isn't this about raising the profile of NABIS - part of an on-going marketing strategy. Have they set themselves up as a private company now along ACPO lines or is this just mission creep and empire building?
