I think the MMGs (models) have changed over the years. Originally they were similar to this rifle with genuine parts demilled - there is a DWSUK review of this type floating around the net from when they first appeared.

However the one I had recently had some different parts and had obviously been made as a model from the ground up - the bolt was a solid casting with no firing pin channel or place for the extractor, the front sight block the same, never having had a barrel aperture. It was almost as though the barrel was just a solid rod of steel. Hand guards were a bit naff too. I was disappointed that it was so fake, hence getting this instead.

I have a couple more nice Tula mags and a mobility case on the way from a guy advertising on Gunstar...

The one I had must have been an early one as the gas block was chrome-lined with the gas port drill and a 98% complete piston.It also had a full select fire trigger group and the correct handguards etc, all with Tula Arsenal stamps and OTK inspectors marks.Wish I hadn't sold it now!.

the above pdf guide lines for the trade, Police and public set very precise deactivation standards for all Firearm classes....

However, things have got somewhat muddled over the last few years, some companies are importing European deacs and selling them, emboldened by the Rusmilitary factory deac cock,click and strip examples (unhappy HO, but nothing has been done about it for 10 years for some reason).

These German spec deacs have the hammer,trigger group deactivated as has already been discussed. However I did raise an eyebrow at one of their Lithgow L1A1's I saw recently, unmolested bolt carrier, Sec 1 controlled part in the UK !!

Now there is provision in the Act for "firearms deactivated by other means" you could try and argue that point, but it would probably be in a court of law if you were unlucky!

I am not a gambling man, so personally wouldnt turn up at UK customs with a "foreign" deac, even if it did come with a piece of paper saying Chancellor Merkel says its OK!

I thought non-deact dummy guns made as such would be classed as replicas. ..so fall under VCR rulings & not be legal except to a member of an approved group?

Deacts are not under VCR restrictions so can be sold to the public.
