Would photography be your other hobby by any chance ;)
It's an ad photo so beside that a german bloke took it , I have no idea sorry ...
Hi Froggy,
I used to collect Cameras, because a lot of the old ones are lovely precision instruments just like most guns.

BTW - I've worked and toured France and noticed that even small villages seem to have a Gun Shop and a Patisserie. Vive la France :good:

Re-Dave 303
The Germans (Frankonia) seem to have bought stacks of them in very very good condition and offer them for decent money. I have one waiting for me in Germany that I have yet to organise picking it up. It certainly looks as good as the one in the pic and the seller (pro) claims the bore is excellent, "Blanker Lauf, Züge und Felder scharf" and all of that ... Now, if I am honnest I bought it more for the esthetics than anything else ... ups  but Insha' Allah it will also be a shooter.

Re -25 Pdr
In northern Italy, on an antique cameras stall, I spoted in the midle the display a splendid MGz34 optic. The price sounded so ridiculous that it made me doubt my Italian counting, so I made the guy write the price down, paid him what he asked for and run away before he changed his mind. :good:

The muzzle loader that I put up previously is a deer park rifle ny Ronge of Liege, who were better known for high quality shotguns. It is a patched ball rifle of 25 gauge .
Here is an attempt to show the damascus pattern and the lock area:

Well, at least in my eyes its the persian 98/29 "mauser" :good:

Uber sleek mauser lines, beautifull wood, deep blued steel, exotic farsi writtings ...
And to top it up... seriously... how could anybody possibly resist the Pahlavi crown & the majestic lion holding over the sun crest ??
Yeah, lovely rifle Froggy, I'm looking out for a persian mauser right now, no chance of picking up one as nice as yours though.

That's luvely too tongueout

For pure aesthetics, the old guns like yours and Freds are hard to beat for me...then adding the history and the fact that you can shoot them makes them very appealing.

Small bore target rifles are now appearing. This one was built by A.G. Parker from a BSA model 12-----it is in .300 Sherwood.
