I have been doing some measuring the magazine will limit me to a over all length of 2.940. I will have to check the barrel and see what kind of jump that gives me. I got a five round and a ten round magazine with it I am not sure I will use the ten round one.
But I have got some cast boolits they would whizz along at 25 yards. :shakeshout:
Seriously though I would love to take her out to 600yards its a bummer living in the North East.
I just popped her in the cabinet next to the Steyr SSG 69 they have both snuggled up together nicely could be the start of a long romance.

2.940" is plenty long enough for a .308 round and is only just a rad shorter than an Accuracy International magazine, it should be fine :good:

Is it an m55 or 65 ? m55 is the short action M65 long action I didn't think the 6.5 x 55 would fit the short action .I have a M65 in .308 but the magazine ismodified by Tikka to take the shorter round. If your mags actually accept 6.5 x 55 loaded round they must be M65 mags .?
The M55 mag is almost identical to an AICS mag ,the M65 mag is like the long AICS mag for 6.5 x 55 , 300WM 338 etc. I am somewhat puzzled by your M55.

At 2.940" it must be a short action so it would not accept the longer Swede which is closer to 3.150" I thought he M55 was a single stack magazine?

The M55 is a single stack mag and the M65 is double stack. You could get both M55 and M65 in .308w calibre, the benefit of the M65 was that it was a 5 round mag as opposed to the standard 3 round mag of the M55 and it could be loaded from the top as it was not necessary to remove the magazine to load it.

3, 5 and 10 round mags for the M55.

I also wouldn't have thought that the M55 action would take the 6.5x55 round but I may be mistaken.

You have me puzzled.
It is definitely a M55 action.
The magazines are single stack.
I have a 5 round and a 10 round magazine.
The magazines hold the 6.5x55 cartridge no problems all though like I said before the rounds can not be any more than 2.940 otherwise they jam in the magazine.
I think its fitted with a new stock its very nice.
The barrel is a 24" Shillen stainless heavy varmit.
I will have more time to check it out over the weekend and I will take some pictures. Its a very nice rifle. It might be a load of crap when I try to shoot it but we will see.

The magazines are the same as the ones posted in these pictures. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll10 ... 90ab53.jpg

My M65 super sport is a twin stack , the .308 round just fits due to the front of the mag body being blocked by a chunk of black plastic internally and a shorter follower and matching spring . Is the rifle chambered for 6.5 x 55 and so marked by the proof house ? It sounds more feasible for it to be .260 rem ( 6.5 x 51 ).
Definitely odd -- need photos .

I was going to suggest taking a chamber cast Dave but then knowing your chamber casting experiences I had second thoughts about it.
