I've written, I've marched, I've voted, I've visited MP's clinics, most recently in Scotland on the airgun issue but we are seen as lone and loony voices.

What the shooting community lacks is strong unified leadership with a meaningful and creditable voice that sets the shooting agenda pro actively instead of just sitting back contributing to whatever meaningless consultation the government comes up with next or twiddling thumbs 'till the next tragedy comes along to galvanise them into torpid action.

That in essence is the crux of what I was saying. I understand that BASC and the NRA have striven to work together when spree shootings happen, but now is the time to begin more aggressive measures to promote gun ownership beyond the successful NRA open days.

It is about promoting gun ownership in the public and political arena's that is necessary.

That is where the vacuum lies not on the firing point. NRA open days and my clubs guest days do nothing at all to address the institutionalised anti attitude that pervades the country. They just create more gun owning victims. The NRA open days do not actually promote gun ownership they try and promote target shooting first and foremost, gun ownership is necessary to pursue the sport but it sidelines the fundamental issue, they and all the other "bodies" have the priorities wrong and consequently we end up having the wrong conversations with government and the public, dancing to their tune.

When it comes to discussing gun ownership and shooting it is gun owners and shooting who have the knowledge and experience of the subject and as such should be listened to and taken heed of. However our fragmented national representatives approach our situation as that of a supplicant rather than with the professional confidence and authority that gun ownership and shooting deserve.

As do the BNP, however Neither party is going to win the next election. that said I wouldn't like to see Nick Griffin as prime minster or the BNP in power for that matter even if they would let us have and carry handguns...

Would you be allowed to shoot it. ?

Section 7(1): Pistols kept in this category may be possessed on a firearm certificate and can be kept at home. They are to be kept only as part of a collection and may not be fired.

To be eligible for 7(1) the pistol must have been made before January 1st 1919 and chambered in a cartridge that is not readily available.
