So, less than one every day. A one hour visit and half an hour travelling, maybe one hour doing on-line checks plus half to generate the certificate. 3 hours total - less than 1/2 day of work for each. And he claims it costs over £100k - how big is the team and what do they do all day?

100k!! and that comes from someone who has spent most of his working life as an accountant/labour councillor!
Slightly ironic that the chap who nicked his mobile phone got banged up for 8 weeks-must have been one hell of a mobile.

So ACPO has got the PCCs - the people who were meant to rein in out of control senior police officers - publicly lobbying for the ACPO position as well?!
Of course, the BBC don't bother getting the shooting sports view. I'm quite tempted to write in and complain, for all the good it'll do.

BBC Look North covered this last night. It seems that the local BBC newsroom have taken an ACPO press release and set it to pictures.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... 9_09_2013/ (it's the very first item, starts at 57 seconds).
I feel sorry for the poor lad who lost his family. Not only has he been cruelly bereaved by a failure of the system to revoke a license at the appropriate time, but that very same system is now trying to use him as a poster boy to secure more cash to feed itself. Very distasteful.

Talk about a biased report. That is a disgusting report.
It talks about "subsidising" but as said before, I subsidise lots of police services I do not use.
