Tbh I think it's done, 46-ish grains and work up in your gun. If you need more speed, N540 should deliver
But yes, OK :)

Re: N140 308 load advice
I'm possibly not the best person for reloading advice, but I do shoot .308 to 1000 yards (TR) - As far as I know the RUAG (which uses the 155 SMK) ammo I'm using is doing about 2980 fps - through my 28" barrel (about halfway through it's useful life) it is superb between 200 and 900 yards, but opens up at 1000...possibly due to leaving super-sonic...
...from speaking to other TR shooters, it appears that N140 is quite popular, but the loads necessary to stay super-sonic at 1000 are quite strong.
I don't know much about Remys...is it a strong action, and how long is the barrel?

Re: N140 308 load advice
The remy action isn't as strong as custom variants but it is still ok according to those in the know to get out to 1000 with suitable loads. (Although I won't be able to get close to some of the speeds that are being reported from a 308 from some of the guys in FTR that are getting to the limits). Still, speed isn't everything (although like money it helps smile2 ) and I'm hoping that good shooting still goes a fair way to not embarrassing myself when I enter my first comp
I'll measure my barrel length later (new Lilja around 29 inches) but have a quick related question..... When barrel length is quoted where is the measurement actually taken from.... The easiest measurement is from the end of the action but the actual overall length will surely depend on the amount of length still in the action which is harder to measure or is it taken from the lands?
Also whilst on the subject - with a 155 2156 or 155.5 Berger what velocity should I be aiming for to keep me still accurately supersonic at 1000?

Re: N140 308 load advice
A bullet will travel around 27.5" in a 29" barrel. You need to be at an absolute minimum of 2850fps with the #2156 for 1000 yards and ideally closer to 2900fps as a start point this is around 45.5 grains of TR140 however MV is dependant on many factors. Right now Lilja barrels have a reputation for running quick so I would say start a lot lower and work up over a chrono.
