I do think they have this AR ban all wrong, much as I find these balck rifles offensively ugly I certainly wouldn't ban them, after all they are just inanimate objects.
I would ban anyone who would wish to own them, anybody so bereft of taste and discrimination is obviously not a fit person to own firearms.

Dromia.....I would insist you were banned from the site for that Armalite disparaging remark.....oh hang on it is your site!
I could quite understand your thoughts, if it was French.
The AR design is 50 plus years old now, so like it or not you have to admit it's a classic rifle!

Correct, but in Canada there are no semi automatic handguns held legally by private individuals and any S/A rifles are licensed.
.......
You sure?
Ummmm, no, but it was the case last time I spoke to my cousin about it out in BC (Prob 2005 when we had the conversation)

Handguns are available in Canada in either revolver or semi auto form. There's some malarky about if owning them after a certain date they have to a barrel over 4.1" and you need licences to acquire, a different one to shoot a different license to transport, different licences to take them to a different province, in safes with trigger locks and no ammo transported with blah, blah, blah.....
Some of their laws make ours seem reasonable, save for the type of guns that can be owned...

I prefer my rifles to be inanimate, you prefer yours to be packed with wriggly woodworm and the odd dead owl laminated in old whale oil....but hey that's the beauty of shooting we can all express ourselves through our choice of rifle.
