Oh! my god, you read the sun sign01
Good God No....nobody actually reads it.Ratman2 wrote:Oh! my god, you read the sun sign01
It will be once it's called a sniper rifle...you relly need to keep up with their spurious antics to demonise ALL guns and those that have them. These papers appeal to the uneducated mooching classes who see your ability to think for yourself and afford anything you acquired through hard work as a crime.most of the gun pictured is furniture and toys-no doubt to inspire fear and dread in the reader...a walnut stock bolt action.22 with just a scope is not as frightening to readers
I recognise we can complain but I would like to see the BASC and NRA join forces to undertake this on behalf of all sporting shooters. We have shooting bodies that we are members of and they should represent our interests.Gaz wrote:Anyone can complain to the PCC: http://www.pcc.org.uk/complaints/makingacomplaint.htmlTJC wrote:I'd like to see the BASC and NRA make a formal complaint to the Press Complaints Commission. We need to be on the front foot to stop this sort of nonsense immediately.
Speaking with the day job hat on, go for it. The Sun is covered by the PCC, and I encourage you to write and complain.
Taking the work hat off ... complaining to the PCC won't do much, and it'll have zero effect with the Sun's investigations department because, being one of the biggest newspapers in the UK, they're a law unto themselves. But do it anyway, as it might have an effect with someone, somewhere.
I'll email matey boy at lunch and copy the text onto this thread.

With reference to the above article, published under your byline earlier today on Sun Online. I’d like to point out that the Gun Control Network, despite the name, has just four members, two of whom are ex-Labour MP Bob Marshall-Andrews and his wife Gill, the founder. The other two members choose to remain anonymous, despite having been in the operation since around 1997.
Doubtless the subs went over the article, but Gill Marshall-Andrews’ statement “Guns leak all the time from legal status to illegal status” is simply not true. She’s entitled to hold that opinion if she likes, but claiming it as a fact is wrong. Get hold of Arundel Militaria again – if he’ll speak to you after this – and ask him how much paperwork he has to fill in, including recording the buyer’s name, address, licence details, and informing the police of the sale, to sell one of these rifles. They’re tracked and recorded as long as they exist.
Of course, you know all this already, and I know you know it’s a slanted article riding on the back of the US massacre fears. Why not ring up the British Association for Shooting and Conservation’s press office and get a few quotes off them on how people safely and legally enjoy shooting for your next article? They’re not all Adam Lanzas in the making.
You might also want to ask the UK National Rifle Association if you can pop down to the ranges at Bisley and try out target shooting – which, by the way, is one of the approved “good reasons” for getting a firearm certificate. You missed that one out.
Regards,
Gaz
