Morning Northumberland,

I am right handed and I am referring to drawing from a hip holster worn outside the pants -open or concealed, same technique.

You ever in Arizona??? Definitely would be fun to get out on the range and try all this stuff out with real guns - I'll let you know when we have courses running, see if we can slot you in at cost. SHHHH! Alternatively if you can find a couple of Glocks and holsters in the UK - blanks of course.....would be fun.

My technique stops students from doing that "cycle" motion where they point ABOVE the target and then come down - seen people doing that and actually sweeping their own face and head with a loaded gun.. troutslapping troutslapping sign01 It's also designed to shave a fraction of a second here and there too, less to remember should you have to draw for real.

Hi Chuck,

Oooh, another invite to Arizona :shakeshout:
I have another friend in Arizona, who is constantly trying to get me over there, so why not visit you as well.
He's got a very impressive collection of machine guns, and Lugers.

I rather steer clear of anything handgun related in the UK, too many morons around who'd think we're an Al Qaeda terrorist cell training for a killing spree.
Another alternative, would be come over to me, in France, I should have all of my "control" stamps by then, so I'll be considered grown up enough to own a pistol.

Ok Do you really get people sweeping a gun across there OWN face :o

Cheers

Seen it done, it's usually the LEGS APART TRIANGLE STANCE mob that do it, square on to a target that's so far away they can hardly see it never mind shoot it.

They start arms outstretched, muzzle down, they then pull their arms BACK as though they are hugging the gun, tilt the muzzle vertical and the and then as they rotate he gun over the top to the target they let the muzzle drop BACK so that it points just under their chin and the sweeping arc then covers their face, forehead before coming down on the target.

Of course they then have to LIFT the muzzle back UP again as they cannot stop the muzzle falling below the aim point as the bring it down....

I'll let you know when I am in AZ - and France too..could be early next year. PM me your location and I'll see how it fits in. :good:

And how safety catches on holsters are not always a good idea...right at the start too.

First vid, similar, but not quite, same level of speed though. bangbang
I don't cant the pistol to pull the slide.
The pistol is held vertical all the time, from the holster to making ready to firing.
Also the pistol never crosses my body, it stays on the right hand side, The only time it can be said to cross the body is when I rotate my shoulders left forward, right back.
But one thing did not mention is I never stand in one place, I advance on the target, or retreat from the target, depending on the situation.
To me standing still means getting shot. :run:

Second vid, all I can say, well the target lost his nuts that day.

Fair do's mate, though ADVANCING on target has legal implications for civvies - you can become the aggressor when it goes to court.

There just seems so much unnecessary movement in it all....damn bad time to find you have a failure to feed issue :o :o :o :o bangbang bangbang

I have never yet, had a feed issue with a TT-33, but there is alway a first time.

Tactics, you have to remember I was, in a situation where, my life was on the line, and the countries in question, well lets just say, they don't really use courts.

Unnecessary movement, for a Glock or similar, yes. You're correct way too much movement. but for the TT-33, you cannot carry a round in the chamber unless your finger is on the trigger.
Carrying the TT-33, with the hammer down on a chambered round is just asking for hole in the leg. kukkuk

But, this conversation has given me a cracking idea, which I'll share when I know it will work. fingerscrossed
